Apple Crunch Cake

1 (18.25oz) box yellow cake mix
1 stick of butter
2 cans apple pie filling (can substitute cherry, blueberry, etc.)
1 cup pecans
Reagan and I served this on our “meal day” of the 1995 Clotiaux Beach Week and got an A! (Dec 1996)

Preheat oven to 350˚F. Crumble yellow cake mix and stick of butter together. Take one cup of above mixture and set aside.
Press remaining mix in 9x13-inch pan. Pour cans of pie filling over cake and butter mixture. Then take the cup of reserved mixture and sprinkle over pie filling. Sprinkle pecans over top.
Bake for 40-45 minutes.
